Cricket Wireless, the prepaid carrier that runs on AT&T's network, treats international use as two separate questions. Calling another country from the US is covered by your plan for Mexico and Canada and by a paid per-country add-on for everywhere else. Using your phone while you travel is included in Mexico and Canada on some plans and costs a Cricket Passport elsewhere. Every Cricket price below comes from cricketwireless.com, checked 3 October 2026.
Cricket's international options at a glance
What you get depends on your plan. Cricket's plans page lists Sensible 10GB at $35 a month, Select Unlimited at $40, Smart Unlimited at $50 and Supreme Unlimited at $60, before the $5 Auto Pay credit.

The $35 Sensible 10GB plan includes none of these, and Cricket says it cannot take add-ons other than Cricket Protect and extra data.
Calling other countries from the US
Calls from the US to landlines and mobiles in Mexico and Canada are unlimited on Select, Smart and Supreme Unlimited. Cricket's international terms exclude Canada's Northern Territories (the 867 area code: Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut).
For any other country you need Cricket's International Calling add-on. It is sold per country. You pick a destination and pay $10 or $15 a month for a set number of minutes to landlines and mobiles there, plus unlimited texts and picture messages to that country. You can add as many countries as you like, each priced separately. Cricket publishes no pay-per-minute rate for other countries, and its terms say that if you run out of international minutes, "you will not be able to make long distance calls unless you purchase additional ILD service."
The minutes vary a lot by country. The figures below come from Cricket's countries list. The last column shows the per-minute rate on CallSky, our own calling app, as of .

If you talk a lot, the add-on usually wins. Used in full, the Philippines add-on works out to 10 cents a minute, so CallSky only costs less if you call the Philippines for under about 25 minutes a month. The UK goes the other way: $15 buys unlimited minutes, but at 4 cents a minute you would need more than 375 minutes a month on CallSky to spend the same. For India the break-even point is about 167 minutes a month.
Rules that catch people out
- Minutes expire each month. They do not roll over, and they reset with your plan's billing period.
- The first month is short. Your first add-on period ends on your plan's renewal date, with no refund or proration, so Cricket advises adding it at the start of a billing period.
- Calls cut off when the minutes run out. You hear a tone 30 seconds before the allowance ends, then the call disconnects. You can buy more minutes as a one-time charge, though Cricket says one-time options may not be available for every country.
- Wi-Fi calls count too. Cricket's Wi-Fi Calling page says international calls made over Wi-Fi Calling come out of your international minutes. Calls to US numbers over Wi-Fi cost nothing extra.
How to add or remove the add-on
In the myCricket app, tap Manage Features, then Add-on Features, and pick the feature under Monthly Features. You can schedule the change for today or for the start of your next billing cycle. On the website, sign in at cricketwireless.com/internationalcalling, choose the line and type the country to see its price and minutes. To remove the add-on, use Manage Features in the app or on the website.
Using your Cricket phone abroad
The International Calling add-on only covers calls made from the US. Cricket says it does not include roaming.
Mexico and Canada
Smart Unlimited, Supreme Unlimited and Cricket's 3- and 12-month plans let you use your plan in Mexico and Canada. Select Unlimited does not. Most of your use has to be in the US, and Cricket's FAQ warns that calls, texts and data in Canada must stay under 50% of your total usage over three months or your service may be suspended. In Mexico, data on networks other than AT&T Mexico may be slowed to 2G speeds.
Other countries: Cricket Passport
Cricket Passport is Cricket's roaming add-on outside Mexico and Canada. It works on Smart Unlimited and higher plans, including the multi-month plans, and comes in two versions:
- Unlimited Daily, $10 a day per line: unlimited talk, text and data for 24 hours, renewed automatically for each day you use it. Cricket charges for no more than 10 days in a 30-day period abroad, so a month away costs at most $100 per line in Passport charges.
- 5GB for 5 Days, $25 per line: 5GB of data plus talk and text for five consecutive days. Calls and texts keep working for the rest of the five days after the data runs out.
Both cover calls within the country you are visiting and calls between that country and the US. Once Passport is on your line, a day is charged when you make or receive a call, send a text or use data abroad, including background data from apps. Receiving a text does not trigger a charge. Passport needs a saved payment card and does not include hotspot data. Cricket's destination list had 85 entries on 3 October 2026, including the UK, India, the Philippines, China and most of Western Europe, but not Japan, Pakistan or Nigeria.
If you only need a few calls while away, Wi-Fi is the cheaper route. A calling app on hotel Wi-Fi, with Passport not added, never touches a foreign mobile network. We could not find a Cricket statement on whether a Cricket Wi-Fi Calling call made abroad starts a Passport day, and Cricket notes that "use of Wi-Fi Calling may be restricted in certain countries", so check with Cricket before you rely on it. Where a calling app fits

- You call a country only now and then, or several countries, so a $10 or $15 add-on for each would cost more than the minutes you use.
- You are on Sensible 10GB, which cannot take the international add-on.
- You are abroad in a country Passport does not cover, or you want to avoid a $10 Passport day for one call.
- Your add-on minutes have run out before the end of the month and no one-time top-up is offered for that country.
For regular, long calls to the Philippines, Pakistan, Nigeria, Vietnam or Haiti, Cricket's $10 add-on is cheaper per minute than CallSky, and it is the better choice. For other US carriers, compare our guide to the AT&T international plan.

How much does Cricket international calling cost?
Calls from the US to Mexico and Canada are included on Select, Smart and Supreme Unlimited. For other countries, Cricket's International Calling add-on costs $10 or $15 a month per country, and the minutes depend on the country: unlimited minutes to the UK or India for $15, or 100 minutes to the Philippines for $10 (checked 3 October 2026).
Can I call other countries on Cricket without an add-on?
