Quick answer: +63 is the Philippines. Mobiles have 10 digits after +63 and almost all start with 9. Landlines have 9. If the number you were given starts with 0, drop the 0. Example:
+63 917 123 4567.
How to dial the Philippines
| Calling from | Dial |
|---|---|
| Any mobile phone | +63 + 9 or 10 digits |
| US or Canada landline | 011 63 + 9 or 10 digits |
| UK, UAE or Saudi Arabia landline | 00 63 + 9 or 10 digits |
| Australia landline | 0011 63 + 9 or 10 digits |
Filipinos write numbers with a leading 0, like 0917 123 4567 or (02) 8123 4567. That 0 is only for calls inside the Philippines. From abroad, leave it out: (02) 8123 4567 becomes +63 2 8123 4567.
Mobile and landline numbers
Mobiles are 10 digits after +63 with no area code, written 0917 123 4567 locally. Nearly all start with 9; DITO also issues numbers starting 895 to 898.
Landlines in Metro Manila are area code 2 plus 8 digits. Elsewhere they are a 2-digit provincial area code plus 7 digits. Either way, that makes 9 digits after +63.

Time difference
The Philippines is on UTC+8 all year, with no daylight saving time. The gap changes when your own clocks change.

| US East Coast | Manila is 12h ahead | Manila is 13h ahead |
| US West Coast | Manila is 15h ahead | Manila is 16h ahead |

FAQ
Can I call a Philippine 1-800 number from abroad?
Usually not. 1-800 toll-free numbers are set up for callers inside the Philippines. Look on the company's website for a regular landline number, such as +63 2 followed by 8 digits.
My contact's Manila landline has only 7 digits. What's missing?
A first digit. Metro Manila numbers grew from 7 to 8 digits in October 2019, and the new first digit depends on the phone company: 8 for PLDT and 7 for Globe, for example. Ask for the current number rather than guessing.
