Visible keeps its US plans simple, and its international calling follows one rule. Every plan includes unlimited calls from the US to Mexico and Canada. Only the top plan, Visible+ Pro, adds calls to other countries.
What Visible international calling includes
Every Visible plan includes unlimited talk and text from the US to Mexico and Canada. Calls to any other country are included only on Visible+ Pro, the most expensive plan.

Visible sells three monthly plans. This is what each one includes for international use, according to Visible's plans page (checked 3 October 2026):

Visible says its prices include taxes and fees. Upgrading to Visible+ helps if you travel to Mexico or Canada. For calls to the rest of the world, only Visible+ Pro changes anything.
Calling other countries on Visible+ Pro
Visible+ Pro costs $20 a month more than the basic Visible plan. For that you get up to 500 minutes a month of calls from the US to the countries on Visible's list, which includes India, Pakistan, China, Vietnam, the UK, Germany, Brazil, Colombia and the Dominican Republic. Several countries US families call often are not on it, among them the Philippines, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica, Haiti, Guatemala and Honduras.
Visible's plans page doesn't list per-minute rates for countries outside the list, so ask Visible before you count on calling them.
Is the upgrade worth it?
If you'd upgrade only for international calls, divide the extra $20 by the minutes you use each month:
- 60 minutes a month works out at about 33 cents a minute.
- All 500 minutes work out at 4 cents a minute.
On CallSky, our own app, India costs $0.09 a minute, so 60 minutes cost about $5.40. Somewhere past 200 minutes a month to India, Visible+ Pro becomes the cheaper of the two, and it adds international texting and Mexico and Canada roaming on top.
Unlimited calls to Mexico and Canada
Unlimited calling to Mexico and Canada is part of every Visible plan, not a temporary offer or an add-on. If you have family, friends or business contacts in either country, that alone can save you a lot of money.
It covers calls and texts from the United States to landlines and mobiles in both countries. A home phone in Vancouver costs the same as a mobile in Mexico City: nothing extra.
The perk only works when you are in the United States calling out to Mexico or Canada. If you travel to either country, you need Visible+ or Visible+ Pro, which include talk, text and data while you're there.
Outside North America
On the Visible and Visible+ plans, included calling stops at the edge of North America. Visible+ Pro extends it to the 85+ countries on its list, up to 500 minutes a month.
Cheaper ways to call other countries
WiFi Calling is built into most smartphones. It carries your normal calls over a WiFi network, which helps where the mobile signal is weak, but the call is still billed as a call from your number. It doesn't make calls to other countries cheaper.
VoIP apps
For calls the plan doesn't cover, the usual answer is a Voice over IP (VoIP) app. VoIP sends your voice over the internet, on WiFi or on your Visible mobile data, and the app charges its own per-minute rate instead of your carrier's.

For a country on the list, Visible+ Pro pays off once you use enough minutes to cover the $20 upgrade. For a country off the list, or for a few calls a month, a pay-as-you-go app costs less.
How you pay
Visible+ Pro's minutes come with a monthly plan, so you pay the extra $20 whether or not you call that month. On CallSky you can add as little as $5, and that credit never expires.
Neither option is cheapest everywhere. Keep Visible for domestic service, and check your country and your monthly minutes before choosing Visible+ Pro or a calling app like CallSky.
How to make your first VoIP international call
Setting up a VoIP service like CallSky takes a few minutes. You create an account, usually with just an email address, and there's no lengthy contract. Then you add credit: many services, CallSky included, let you start with as little as $5, so there's no big upfront cost.
Placing the call
- Open the web-based dialer on your computer, or the mobile app on your phone.
- Choose the destination country from the dropdown menu, which fills in the country code, then type the rest of the number.
- Press the call button. The call connects over the internet.
You pay only for the minutes you talk, and with many providers the credit doesn't expire, so you can keep a small balance on hand for the next call abroad.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use my Visible number with an app like CallSky?
You can't make the call through your Visible number, but you can make it look as if you are. VoIP apps like CallSky use your internet connection, not the cell network. The best services let you set your regular Visible number as your outgoing Caller ID, so the person you're calling sees your familiar number, not a random one they won't recognize.
Is WiFi Calling the same as a VoIP app?
Not quite. Both use the internet, but they are designed for different jobs. WiFi Calling is built into your phone. It carries your normal calls over WiFi, billed as calls from your Visible number.
A VoIP app, like CallSky, is a separate app you download. It uses any internet connection (WiFi or your Visible data) to make cheap calls to virtually any country in the world, whether you're calling a landline in London or a mobile in Manila.
Do I have to change my Visible plan to use CallSky?
No. CallSky works alongside your Visible plan rather than replacing it, so you don't have to change, upgrade or cancel anything. Keep Visible for your domestic calls, texts and data, and open the app whenever you need to call someone in another country.
