Google Fi bills international use in two separate ways. Calling another country while you are in the US depends on your plan: Unlimited Premium includes free calls to more than 50 destinations, and the other plans pay per minute. Using your phone while you travel also depends on your plan, and two of Fi's four plans give you little or no service abroad. Every Fi detail below comes from Google Fi's own pages, checked 3 October 2026.

Prices are for a single line before taxes and government fees, from Fi's plans page. Each line costs less on a multi-line account: Unlimited Premium drops to $55 a line with two lines. The international details come from Fi's international coverage and rates page.
Calling other countries from the US
On Unlimited Premium, calls from the US to standard landline and mobile numbers in more than 50 destinations cost nothing extra. Fi's list includes India, Mexico, China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Japan, the UK, France, Germany and Spain. The Philippines and Vietnam are not on it.
Every other international call from the US is charged per minute at Fi's rates, which Google says start "as low as 1¢/min" and vary by destination. Look up the country on Fi's rate table before a long call. Calls to Canada and Mexico are free on every plan except Unlimited Essentials.
Fi's 20¢ a minute rate applies to calls made abroad over a foreign cellular network, not to calls you make from home.
Which plan works out cheaper depends on where your calls go. If your family is in India or Nigeria and you talk for hours a month, Premium's free calls can be worth the $15 a month it costs over Unlimited Standard. If the country you call is not on the list, that perk does nothing for you.
Using Fi while you travel
Only Flexible and Unlimited Premium work across Fi's 200+ international destinations. On both, texts are free and calls over a foreign cellular network cost 20¢ a minute, calls home to the US included. Data abroad costs the same $10/GB as at home on Flexible. Unlimited Premium includes 50 GB of high-speed data abroad, then slows to 256 kbps.
Wi-Fi calling changes the price. On Flexible, Unlimited Premium and Unlimited Standard, a Wi-Fi call to a US number is free. A Wi-Fi call to any other country is billed at Fi's per-minute rate for that country, and only outgoing calls are charged.
Unlimited Standard covers data, calls and texts in Canada and Mexico only; anywhere else, Google tells you to get a local SIM card. Unlimited Essentials has no data, calls or texts outside the US.
Two rules apply before any trip. You must activate Fi and use it in the US (territories don't count) for at least a day first, and you can't activate Fi for the first time while abroad. If most of your usage over 90 consecutive days happens outside the US, Fi suspends your international data, per its terms of service.
Where a calling app fits
